Among the topics covered, Katainen is asking the parties for concrete measures they are ready to implement in municipal integration.

In addition, he is asking parties’ opinions on the most important items of expenditure in the new parliament, the size of spending commitments required to fund them, and the most important legislative proposals the new government would introduce.

Katainen also asked the Social Democrats three extra questions and the True Finns two extra questions.

Katainen would like to know how the SDP will react if economic growth forecasts are not met. He also asked the True Finns if they are ready to commit to Finland’s position in the European Union and to the country’s obligations to combat climate change.

Katainen has requested answers by Monday 9 May at 12 noon. Katainen will then explain more on the formation of a new government later in the week.

The actual negotiations on the formation of the new administration are expected to begin at the House of the Estates on May 18.
